Chaksam-pa

Chaksam-pa the Tibetan Dance and Opera Company is based in San Francisco and has been touring North America as well as Europe for the last ten years.

Chaksam-pa was started by Tashi Dhondup (Techung), Sonam Tashi (Danny) and Tsering Wangmo, three former artists of the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts in Dharamsala, India, started Chaksampa, which now draws fans not only from Tibetan communities but also from across North America in general. They have recently performed the traditional Tibetan Ache Lhamo (opera).

They have produced three acclaimed albums featuring their own compositions, and a full length outdoor presentation of the opera Sukyi Nyima. They have also featured at all four Tibetan Freedom Concerts as well as performed at Carnegie Hall.

Chaksam-pa is available through out the year to perform Tibetan music, dance and opera in schools, community special-events.
