TIBET HOUSE TRUST, London The exhibition is in three parts - why Tibetans became refugees, their current lives and their vision for the future. It evokes the unique history and culture of the Tibetans as well as showing their diverse lives in exile. The exhibition demonstrates the peaceful struggle of the Tibetans to maintain their cultural identity while adapting their lives to survive and contribute successfully to other cultures and countries. The Tibetan people, through their non-violent approach while living under oppression, have a vital message of peaceful co-existence, respect and compassion for all people and all living beings. Tibet House Trust is the London based official Tibetan charity inaugurated by His Holiness the Dalai Lama in September 1994. It aims to relieve the poverty of the Tibetan refugees by assisting them with rehabilitation, health, education and developmental works. It also works on projects that facilitate in preserving Tibetan identity and culture. The trust sponsors weekend Tibetan language classes for Tibetan children living in the UK. This exhibition mainly features the works of Tenzin Dorjee, a young Tibetan photographer born and raised in Dharamsala, India. He studied photography in New York and freelances for the Lookat Photo Agency in Zurich, Switzerland. His photographs have appeared in Time magazine amongst many other publications.
